The United States Government has no Constitutional authority to define marriage.
Consenting Individuals should be able to call their relationship whatever they want without government interference. The decision to get married should not be a decision between individuals and the state, but instead should be a decision made between the individuals involved. Religious groups do not have a right to force their religious beliefs on others, especially though force of law. This also means that others cannot force their views upon religious groups and individuals. If a religious group does not want to recognize a marriage they have that right, if a business does not want to recognize a marriage that is their right as well.
While individuals do not have to recognize a marriage the government cannot favor one definition of marriage over another. The government should instead treat everyone as equal individuals.

There’s a discussion on the facebook group Making Friends Through Ron Paul talking about the RNC.
The thread is getting under my skin, because of everything I witnessed last week. But, there are a few points being made on there and I want to address them:
1) Ron Paul did not get cheated out of the nomination
This is a hard blow

Our morales were all pretty down after the outright rejection and railroad job of a Convention on Tuesday. Yet, we all gathered at Whiskey Joe’s afterwards and came up with a game plan to continue on. This pumped us all up…exactly what we needed! So many neat memories were made at Whiskey Joe’s!
Wednesday we had a new game plan

Wow. Where do I begin with what happened on Tuesday? It was such a full day. Emotions were high.
After going to bed very late Monday night because of all the last minute strategy we were doing, we got up bright and early on Tuesday to head to the Oklahoma delegation hotel. We were planning on catching the bus to get into the

The PaulFest was Friday, Saturday & Sunday (Aug. 24-26th). We were at the PaulFest Friday & Saturday. I wasn’t able to be involved with much of it, due to delegate strategy & planning/coordination I was involved in.
My sisters, Ezriyah & Suriyah, and brother, Norayah, pulled off the livestreaming of the PaulFest

What a whirlwind the 12 days have been. I discussed our impending appeal to the Credentials Committee a week and a half ago. Yesterday I put up a blog doing a general post about what happened. But, I wanted to go back through and address each day.
Since then, I’ve never had so many extremely late nights, with early mornings. So

We’ve all been through a lot the past week (or two, for some of us). It has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. I will put up some blog posts detailing exactly happened in the Convention, but below is a quick synopsis with my thoughts on where we go from here.
For some of us, like Maine & Oklahoma, it started a week

Dear Jesse Benton,
My name is Tracy Diaz. I am one of the organizers of "P.A.U.L. Festival". I, along with thousands of other grassroots supporters, champion the cause of liberty. There is a great divide in our movement, and I have spent the better part of the last few months trying to bridge that divide. All of us who organized the festival did. And while we took beatings from all sides, we still forged ahead knowing that this event was very important- it needed to be the springboard for the message to move forward. It needed to be a place where great minds could come together and motivate, and continue our work, even after it became obvious to us that Ron Paul would not be the Republican nominee for President. So, that is what we did.
We assembled a "who's who" of the liberty movement- musical acts, speakers, vendors. You name someone, they were most likely there. Well, everyone that is, except those you got your hands on. And interestingly enough, it appears even some you did get your hands on. Jesse Benton, it seems you have done everything in your power to try to get this celebration to fail! And I can only wonder why? After some thought, I have my answer. You see Jesse, while you were busy using your father-in-laws presidential run to further your career, those of us you refer to as "fringe" were donating to pay your salary. While you ostracized us and pushed us aside, the "fringe" out here were organizing sign waves, and GOTV education campaigns. The same way we did it in 2008. The same way we did it before we had your "help". On our OWN.
While you were busy working to make sure you had a nice big house to live in, we were sacrificing our paychecks to travel to rally's and speeches, and make super brochures and run for local office--- all of our hopes hanging on the chance that we could have liberty in the White House and save our country. All of our hopes hanging on the chance that Ron Paul could be president. We didn't do this so we would have a job after November, we did it so that we could have our FUTURE. We didn't do it so we could position ourselves for our next campaign, we did it so that our children could grow up in a free America. You must know the platform by now, right?I brushed a lot that I have heard about you aside, but this is just a blatant smack in our collective faces. A light bulb went off recently, and now it has gotten brighter. YOU SIR are the reason for the divide. You, and your "Republican" strategy, and the turning up of your nose at people who don't look the way you want them to, and question the government at every turn. YOU are the reason. You see, while you continue to play your party politics, and compromise OUR ideals over and over and over again to suit YOU, WE won't compromise a THING. We are done compromising. We are done playing the game. We are not going anywhere, and you can NOT stop us. If anything, you have at least now unwittingly proven your true colors. The message of liberty will live on, the two party paradigm can, and will, come to an end, and we will succeed. We will be stronger than ever now. We are FIERCE, there are many of us, and we don't need you and your stuffy suit, and nasty attitude. We will happily wear our t-shirts, and sandals, and continue the work the needs to be continued. We aren't doing it for you or your career Mr. Benton, we are doing it to save our country. We will not be disappointed, for you have just made our job easier and shown us exactly what type of a person you are and what your goal has been the entire time. You have just tarred and feathered yourself sir, and I am glad you did it. It just makes us that much more credible, because we have been saying it all along. We are not the "fringe" Mr. Benton. We are the many, and the strong, with liberty in our hearts, and our country to save. We are the "Ragamuffins" Mr. Benton, and we are NEVER going to "go away". I stand with the "Ragamuffins". Fir we are the REAL grassroots. Sincerely,
Tracy Diaz
Peter Schiff reads a text message from Jesse Benton to Paul Festival Organizer Deborah Robinet. The text proves that Jesse Benton of the Ron Paul campaign intentionally sabotaged Paul Festival and the Ron Paul supporters who organized it.

Well, where do I start? It’s been a c-r-a-z-y past 24 hours.
I’m sitting in the truck on a long drive from Ft. Pierce back up to Tampa. Last night we just made this same trek.
We were having a peaceful walk on the pier in Ft. Pierce when I got a call from one of our district delegates saying we had an opportunity to negotiate
Via Reason.com: The RNC has agreed to seat 17 Ron Paul delegates from Louisiana, which has been a major point of contention between the Paul campaign and the Romney campaign. In addition, the RNC will also seat additional Paul delegates from Massachusetts, ending the controversy in that state.
Associated Press had more, later, treating the Louisiana deal as done, with Massachusetts close and Maine still in the air:
The Texas congressman will get 17 of the Louisiana's 46 delegates in the compromise, said Charlie Davis, who served as Paul's campaign chairman in Louisiana. The rest of the state's delegates are expected to support Mitt Romney, the party's presumptive nominee.
A Republican National Committee official confirmed the agreement. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, was not authorized to publicly discuss the negotiations.....
"I think it's a huge win for our campaign because it showed what happened in Louisiana was wrong," Davis said by phone from Tampa. "It's been a long uphill battle, but the overwhelming evidence was on our side."

Via The LA Times: A 20-year-old Venice skateboarder and his family are accusing Los Angeles police of using unnecessary force after a video shows him pinned to the ground and an officer punching him in the face. The incident unfolded Saturday afternoon when college student Ronald Weekley Jr. was riding his skateboard in the street when officers sought to detain him, police said. Weekley's attorney alleges that police grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Weekley suffered a broken nose, concussion and fractured cheekbone, said Ryan Julison, a spokesperson for attorney Benjamin Crump. A video provided to KTLA shows Weekley on the ground with four officers on top of him. One officer is seen punching Weekley in the head

Via CNN: A stand off between Ron Paul supporters and the Republican National Committee over convention delegates appears to be easing, and both sides are close to announcing a deal that could help avoid a potentially embarrassing moment for Mitt Romney on the day he receives the GOP presidential nomination.
The RNC has agreed to seat 17 Ron Paul delegates from Louisiana, which has been a major point of contention between the Paul campaign and the Romney campaign. In addition, the RNC will also seat additional Paul delegates from Massachusetts, ending the controversy in that state.
There are still ongoing discussions over disputed delegates from Maine, which is being negotiated by Paul advisors, RNC officials and senior Romney staff. But the compromise over Louisiana and Massachusetts was a major break through on this thorny issue less than a week before the Republican National Convention.

Via RT America: Video has surfaced of an altercation filmed earlier this year between six officers with the Saginaw, Michigan police department and a homeless man. The cops shot 49-year-old Milton Hall 46 times, killing him.
Authorities have released video footage of the July 1 encounter between Saginaw police officers and Hall, a homeless man they spotted wielding a knife in a local parking lot (warning: graphic video).
Police responded to a 911 call after Milton, described by his family to CNN has suffering from “serious mental health issues,” had a disagreement with a clerk at a nearby convenience store. When law enforcement found him, he was pacing in a parking lot with a knife.
“My name is Milton Hall, I just called 911. My name is Milton, and I'm pi**ed off,” Hall can be heard shouting on the amateur footage.
On the uploaded clip, Hall is audibly told by a female police officer to drop his weapon, after which the suspect refuses and encourages the cops to let a dog loose on him.
"Let him go. Let the motherf---ing dog go,” Hall insists.
The authorities do not heed his request, but immediately after Hall screams at them to sic the dog, the video clip picks up the sound of a barrage of bullets being fired at Hall. Most estimates put the number of shots fired by the six officers at 46.
